Take advantage while you can; the facts speak for themselves…

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) predicts there will be more than 10.5 million spectators at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer.

Home crowd support for the GB team will be huge with 90% of ticket holders from the UK.

Not your typical sporting event audience – it’s all about Experience Seekers looking for that once in a lifetime moment to share with family and friends.

- Each London 2012 ticket entitles spectators to a 2 hour session at an Olympic venue which includes their ticketed event and one other.

- LOCOG envisage that spectators will head towards the West End after their London 2012 event to take part in at least one other activity that London has to offer, e.g. shopping, eating out, theatre etc.

- London 2012 is projected to deliver £1 billion of additional consumer spend.

- The first networking games – 2 million senior management and high profile decision makers have 25% of London 2012 tickets.

- The first ever Transport Games: LOCOG are aiming for 100% of spectators to arrive by public transport, with all ticket holders being issued a free Travel card for the day of their event.

- Transport for London estimate there will be 20 million additional journeys on London Underground and are extending their services until 1.30am to deal with the crowds.

We have enjoyed interesting comments and observations about our revamped web site, generally people are finding it easier to navigate, visually engaging with a host of useful information. Do keep sending us your views, i assure you that all are read and logged.

Its been a busy period for us with the recent World Travel Fair in London in November. We were all there in force, meeting with existing customers and looking out for some potentially new ones. Interesting observations from the fair:

- Increased number of exhibitors.

- Higher number of visitors than in recent years.

All this inspite of the doom and gloom that pervades our airways. Its apparent that no matter what else, people want to go on vacation, whether its to explore new places, short city breaks or just want to get away from it all for a while – more and more people have the
“travel bug”.

Buying partners of consumers are however changing, more and more research is done online prior to taking final decisions, people are taking into account the environmental issues, with “responsible travel” high on the list. This is naturally leading to more bookings being made on line and this is having a major impact on the high street travel agent, even giants like Thomas Cook are not immune to this new trend.

Accordingly we are seeing a change in the media requirements of the top tourism boards with on line featuring much higher on the media plan than before. To meet these new needs we at IMA are placing more emphasis on researching the appropriate web sites and thereby providing a more tailored and targeted media plan to the travel boards.
As the festive period looms, our minds turn to Christmas and the New years and with the traditional upsurge in spending, accordingly we are seeing an increased level of media spend – and its not too late to undertake some last minute advertising activity. There are still some fantastic last minute deals about, so don’t hesitate to contact one of the team here and we can tailor a specific campaign to meet your marketing objectives. We specialise in maximising even the smallest budgets, so get in touch.

Before signing off – let me wish you all a wonderful Christmas and may the new year bring you much peace, good health and true happiness.

Sohan

Watch this space for announcements about new client wins!!!Next month we will participate in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, this is the largest travel show in the world. This will be an extremely challenging event whilst over the three days of the exhibition we meet all of our clients to plan their media activities for 2012.With our expertise in international travel we will also be looking to pick up new briefs and clients. In spite of the global recession, the travel sector remains buoyant, and research shows that people whilst cutting back in several areas of expenditure, are very reluctant to cut back on holidays. In the coming months we will share our thoughts and ideas about the developments in international media, particularly in the area of on line and social media – so continue to visit the site…

…AND KEEP IN TOUCH.
